DIY Piggy Bank Contest Rules and Guidelines

Submit your Piggy Bank for a chance to win one of three cash prizes!

First Place - $100      Second Place - $75       Third Place - $50

 

 

DIY Milk Jug Piggy Bank Contest Rules:

  1. Contest is only open to children under the age of 18 years old.
  2. Only one entry allowed per child.
  3. Entries must use the same basic materials outlined in our What You Will Need section* (Recycled, plastic jug, egg carton feet) but extra details and/or embellishments are encouraged.
  4. Entries may not include any offensive, derogatory, profane, or inflammatory images, symbols, or language.
  5. Entries must be an original work of the contestant.
  6. Entries will be judged on creativity and originality.
  7. All entries must be claimed no later than May 10, 2024, at 4:59 pm. Entries that go unclaimed after May 10, 2024, will be determined to be the property of LifeStore Bank and will be recycled.
  8. Entries must accompany a completed and signed Parental Consent Form and ID card for the Piggy Bank. Failure to provide the completed forms could result in disqualification.
  9. Most importantly, be creative and have fun.

Piggy Banks, ID Card, and Parental Consent Form must be submitted to one of our four (4) LifeStore Bank locations by 4:59 pm, EST, April 30, 2024. For LifeStore Bank locations, visit: https://www.golifestore.com/hours. Winners will be notified by telephone and/or email by May 3, 2024. The top three entries will be awarded a cash prize and announced on LifeStore Bank’s website and social media channels. All entries will receive a goodie bag prize (worth less than $100).

Contest Entry / Parental Consent Form

Form must be completed, signed, and turned in with Piggy Bank Entry and ID Card

           

 

Follow the instructions below to make your very own Milk Jug Piggy Bank and start saving!

 

What You Will Need:

  • 1 clean, dry, plastic milk (or tea, or juice) jug (gallon or half gallon work best)*
  • Egg carton sections* for feet (cardboard works best, but Styrofoam works too)
  • Scissors
  • Pink spray paint (or any color you want your piggy to be)
  • Construction paper for ears (pink and white for a more traditional piggy or any color combination you'd like)
  • Black marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Pipe cleaner for tail
  • Craft knife (adult supervision)
  • Hot glue gun and/or school glue (adult supervision)
  • Glue stick
  • Embellishments of your choosing such as feathers, stick on gems, pom-poms, beads etc. Use your imagination!

 

Instructions:

  1. Clean the milk jug and remove labels with warm soapy water. Allow to dry completely.
  2. Using a craft knife, or scissors, cut a slot on the top of the pig's back just big enough to insert coins and bills.
  3. Using scissors, cut out four egg cups from an egg carton, leaving one side higher than the other. These will be used as the feet. 
  4. Glue the feet to the opposite side of the milk jug handle. Allow to dry completely. 
  5. In a well-ventilated space (outdoors is best), spray paint the entire milk jug and feet. Allow to dry completely. 
  6. Using scissors, cut out ears from the construction paper. 
  7. Glue the smaller pink ears onto the larger white ears. Allow to dry completely. 
  8. Glue the ears to the pig. Allow to dry completely. 
  9. Glue the googly eyes on either side of the handle. Allow to dry completely. 
  10. Using a permanent marker, draw eyebrows, add nose holes on the cap, and a mouth underneath the cap. 
  11. Wrap the pipe cleaner around your finger a few times to create the tail. 
  12. Glue the tail to the back of the pig.  
  13. At this point, add whatever fun elements you would like to make your piggy as unique as you!
